Found this on a bulletin board I lurk and occasionally comment on.
A modern version of a poem by the English Renaissance poet Francis Quarles:
God and the soldier, all men adore
In time of danger and not before.
When the danger is passed and all things righted,
God is forgotten, and the soldier slighted.
Ain't that the truth. More on this later, didn't want to forget to post it.
