Got a talking to at work today because my boss is a few french fries short of a happy meal and thinks...I kid you not...that I stuck my tongue out at her. Seriously... what the hell kind of person does she think I am?
She asked me to do something at the last minute and I'll willingly admit that there was some eyerolling but I'm practically famous for that. I am so deeply offended that she would think I would do it. I can't even think of what I did to have her think I stuck my tongue out at her.
There are some "sacrifices" she made which she uses as weapons to make us feel bad for different things. I will give more details later....I needed to spew a bit because I'm reasonably sure she "effed" up my weekend.
Seattle Sounders FC. Politics. Culture. Religion. Other Stuff As the Spirit Moves Me. Who am I kidding? This is where I come to whine about my pitiful problems.

I can't watch!!!
but I can't look away either...
For the last couple of years ABC has been running a "What Would You Do?" Series showing situations, bigots refusing service to a muslim woman (and tonight a couple of day-laborers). Everyone (I think) involved are actors. They've had an overweight woman (and man I think) getting harrassed. All of these situations are fabricated to see how people respond.
Sadly, there are people who join in.
There are people who ignore it.
There are people who get involved and defend the "victims".
I'd like to think that I would be one of those who get involved to defend the person being harrassed/picked on. I'm concerned that I would be a bystander.
Confrontation freaks me out. I can barely watch "investigative reports". I want to believe that I would stick up for someone who is being treated badly. I'm afraid that when the chips are down I'll flake.
The next segment is "ugly Americans" in Paris. France. It's mortifying. They're actors but OMG. I just can't even....what's scary...is there are people like that, I'm sure.

Wow, this is pretty perfect....
Well, so that is that. Now we must dismantle the tree,
Putting the decorations back into their cardboard boxes --
Some have got broken -- and carrying them up to the attic.
The holly and the mistletoe must be taken down and burnt,
And the children got ready for school. There are enough
Left-overs to do, warmed-up, for the rest of the week --
Not that we have much appetite, having drunk such a lot,
Stayed up so late, attempted -- quite unsuccessfully --
To love all of our relatives, and in general
Grossly overestimated our powers. Once again
As in previous years we have seen the actual Vision and failed
To do more than entertain it as an agreeable
Possibility, once again we have sent Him away,
Begging though to remain His disobedient servant,
The promising child who cannot keep His word for long.
The Christmas Feast is already a fading memory,
And already the mind begins to be vaguely aware
Of an unpleasant whiff of apprehension at the thought
Of Lent and Good Friday which cannot, after all, now
Be very far off.
But, for the time being, here we all are...
W.H. Auden's "For the Time Being, A Christmas Oratorio"
And already the mind begins to be vaguely aware
Of an unpleasant whiff of apprehension at the thought
Of Lent and Good Friday which cannot, after all, now
Be very far off.
Lordy, that thought had, in fact, occured to me just yesterday (or the day before).

disappointment
The light outside is interesting. Because of the snow and the clouds the lights have a weird reflection. Everything looks so beautiful coated with snow. It has been fun walking the pooch in the snow. He bounds and careens around it's totally adorable.
Mother nature is toying with us. We have been teased by a 7+ hour "snow event" (been snowing since 3:30p) Sadly the forecast is for it to rain and wash away by morning.

Year (ish) in Review
One of my favorite things sistah dubh does on her page. Take the first sentence (or so) from each month.
Here goes:
It's late. I'm done with this school year...I'm ready to be on vacation for a bit. I got a great hug today. Alas, reports of my demise have been greatly exaggerated. This Blog Entry over at The Sandbox talks about "the Monster" that is PTSD. So I'm in the midst of a "discussion" over at The Deacon's Bench. St. Therese of Lisieux - the Little FlowerYesterday was her "feast". According to the big widgetty thing on MSNBC: Live Results Available in 17 hours and 22 minutes. The local t.v. station saw a 100% increase in donations --even tho' times are tough.
