but I can't look away either...
For the last couple of years ABC has been running a "What Would You Do?" Series showing situations, bigots refusing service to a muslim woman (and tonight a couple of day-laborers). Everyone (I think) involved are actors. They've had an overweight woman (and man I think) getting harrassed. All of these situations are fabricated to see how people respond.
Sadly, there are people who join in.
There are people who ignore it.
There are people who get involved and defend the "victims".
I'd like to think that I would be one of those who get involved to defend the person being harrassed/picked on. I'm concerned that I would be a bystander.
Confrontation freaks me out. I can barely watch "investigative reports". I want to believe that I would stick up for someone who is being treated badly. I'm afraid that when the chips are down I'll flake.
The next segment is "ugly Americans" in Paris. France. It's mortifying. They're actors but OMG. I just can't even....what's scary...is there are people like that, I'm sure.
